About

Hi there!

My name is Anne and together with my husband Brad, we have been on a journey transforming our “worst house on the block” into a beautiful and comfortable home with unique and affordable DIY projects.

My goal is to share these projects and ideas with you so that you can also create a space you love without breaking the bank.

A little of our story:

Brad and I were married in 2013 and rented an apartment the first few years where we really got to flex our DIY and design muscles. We really enjoyed turning that apartment into a home but we knew we ultimately wanted to have a place of our own.

When my late Great-Aunt and -Uncle’s home became available, we knew it was to be our forever home. It is steps to the heart of the village and just two blocks to the beach, sitting on top of a cliff with views of the harbor on a block with gorgeous restored Victorian homes.

The location could not be beat.

The house on the other hand, needed some help. And when I say some, I mean it needed a lot of help.

We were actually grateful for this fact as it was how we were able to buy into this neighborhood. Like they say: “Buy the worst house on the best block”

We were a bit overwhelmed and Brad was sure he would never walk around barefoot. But we were determined.

We knew we were going to have to get creative if we were going to make this a comfortable space. With lots of help, some inspiration, no experience, minimal tools and little money, we were able to transform the house into a comfortable and beautiful home.

We hope that by sharing our journey, you are empowered and gain the confidence to know that with a little work and imagination, you can also achieve the home of your dreams.

Now more than ever, with the stressful and uncertain world we live in, I believe it is so important for everyone to have a comfortable space to relax and decompress at the end of the day.

I’m not talking mansions here. Just your own little slice of heaven.

While our home has come a long way, we still have a long way to go with many exciting projects ahead.

Follow along, be inspired and get creative
as we continue to improve our
Worst on the Block.
